Whether your goal is to relax by Okanagan lake or enjoy some time outdoors on one of our many forested pathways; we hope this article has convinced you that Penticton should be your next vacation destination!

Pentiction is a place where as an outcome of the many events and festivals that take place, one can always expect a good time. One of the well-known events in Penticton is The Grape Escape.

This event takes place every year since 2011 with the aim to promote wine, food and culture. It is a festival that has live music, cooking demonstrations and tastings.

A not less popular event in Penticton is Oktoberfest BC. This festival was established in 2003. It is celebrated annually all over BC from September 24th to October 4th. It takes place at its own private grounds at 21717 Ranch Road 23 in West Kelowna, British Columbia.

Find a great DJ in the South Okanagan

We often get inquiries from couples getting married in the South Okanagan and it seems that in the past few years for having awesome places the city has, like Skaha lake park, Okanagan lake, the area has really become a hotspot as a wedding destination and Airwaves has been performing at many of these Penticton events & there are so many upcoming events.

Each year, people from Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and the lower mainland seem to be heading to this part of the valley during the spring and summer months like from April to August to get married. Most of them don’t prefer October or November for their Wedding. This blog article will go over some of the main reasons couples are choosing to have a Penticton wedding above Kelowna or Osoyoos.

What is Penticton known for?

There are so many things like golden beaches, Sparkling lakes, Rolling vineyards, vast mountain ranges and one of the best year-round climates in Canada for which Penticton is known for.

Thinking of having your wedding in Penticton? Here are 5 good reasons why you may want to do just that:

Wedding event rates are on the rise in Kelowna and Osoyoos. While both of these areas have become extremely popular wedding destinations, rates can be quite high when compared to Penticton BC.

Why else should I take a look at holding my wedding Penticton?

Many couples from Alberta have been looking for destinations that are more cost-effective reasons why you should choose Penticton for your wedding ceremony?

Penticton venues are often much more affordable than those in Kelowna.

You hold your wedding at Barefoot Beach Resort or Penticton Lakeside Resort and Convention centre. The prices of the Resort & convention centre in these locations are often 3 to 4 times cheaper than those of Kelowna and Osoyoos. The venues offer beautiful settings and lakefront views for your outdoor ceremony.

Venue prices in these locations can range from $600 to $2,500 for a full-service venue with catering, chairs, tables, linen and cake included. Typically, weddings outside the Okanagan Valley would cost between $1,000-$3,000 more for each bed/breakfast or hotel venue.

For many couples located outside of the Okanagan Valley, this can be a significant cost savings

Best Reputation for Having More Affordable lodging

Your guests from out of town will definitely thank you for hosting your wedding in Penticton BC.

The area offers a wide range of accommodations from hotel rooms, Airbnb rentals, camping or even luxury yurts for guests of different events.

Camping in Penticton is an ideal accommodation for those who love the outdoors and want to get close to nature. There are fun and friendly campsites just 15 minutes north of Penticton BC that accommodate tents, RVs and motorhomes. For those who don’t enjoy camping, there are plenty of other options available in Penticton BC.

For those who want a nice and quiet place for your wedding ceremony, you can find beautiful venue locations near Penticton Lakeside Resort & Creekside Theatre in lake country. The resort is in close proximity to the Trans Canada Highway so it’s easy to get your guests there.

Picture yourself getting married as the waves lap against the shore and the hot Okanagan sun shines down on you. Now picture that interrupted by an obnoxious speed boat blasting dubstep at the loudest possible volume. Not cool.

The temperatures in Penticton BC are warmer, and those of the surrounding areas are often cooler.

Some say that a cooler temperature is much preferable for wedding photos. This is a matter of preference though. Penticton also has more beaches than the other nearby areas, which is why we often find couples choosing to get married up there.

Penticton BC has one of the largest parks and green spaces in the city, so you’ll have plenty of space to play with your guests and tie the knot in a beautiful location.

Wineries around Penticton BC, Canada

The wineries around Kelowna are definitely beautiful, but there are some hidden gems minutes within Penticton BC. Visiting the city now is like visiting Kelowna was 30 years ago. Orchards, cherry trees and sprawling, little-known wineries.

If you’re looking for a bit more of an adventure, Penticton definitely offers it. Beachcombers, boat enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike enjoy the various activities offered at Okanagan Lake Park. From kayaking to water skiing and jet-skiing, there is something for everyone. Even you can get the chance of Hoodoo Adventures.

Not only can one find extreme sports, but they can also indulge in some classic family fun as well. For those who enjoy picnics, the parks offer various potential venues where one can explore and enjoy nature.

Beginners will love the playgrounds while more experienced hikers will want to hike Mount Todd or Wilkinson Ridge for that breathtaking view. Another popular activity is a toll-free lakeshore drive on the green mountain road.

The Truth: Fewer people

Okay, so we kind of cheated on this last one. We’re really just summing up the others. Whether you’re trying to save money, want a more intimate wedding, or simply want to feel the “old-Okanagan” Penticton does just that.

Something about it feels more rural, more secret and more authentically Okanagan in many ways. Kelowna is still beautiful but in the summer it becomes a much different place than when many out-of-towner’s first stay to plan their wedding.

As well, Penticton BC has its own airport offering flights to and from both Calgary and Vancouver. Airwaves has been working in the South Okanagan for the past 5 years and each wedding season we do dozens of weddings in the area.

We have local rental partners and local, Penticton-based DJs in the area as well. Though Kelowna is our home, we definitely would encourage all brides and grooms to consider the South Okanagan as well.

It offers a much different vibe, many unique and beautiful venues, some amazing service providers and affordable rates. If you do decide to get married in Kelowna or Osoyoos, Penticton BC, Canada should definitely still be on your list of places to visit next time you go back. You won’t be disappointed!
