Wedding Venues We Love
-By the Vancouver Wedding DJs at Airwaves Music
Welcome to the most cultural wedding venue Vancouver has to offer, the breathtaking Museum of Anthropology.
How exclusive one must feel to have the opportunity to share their big day with ancient artifacts and spellbinding statues of the MOA. To be bound in holy matrimony beneath giant totems, or dance the night away in the Haida Village. The MOA offers several fantastic options to any bride or groom looking to add yet another element of awe to their big day.
This month I had the pleasure of meeting Taylor, the Public Services Manager, for a day at the Museum. As I approached the lobby of the MOA for our meeting I felt like I was about to visit somewhere very special. Outside fountains gurgled as I walked down the steps into the Museums courtyard.
The entranceway leading to the front lobby boasts large glass floor to ceiling doors that instantly make you feel as if you have stepped into another world. The lobby is a great place for cocktail hour before a wedding and the sleek wooden reception area can even double as a wicked DJ booth.
Once cocktail hour is over guests may venture into the grand hall for the ceremony. No decor is necessary as beautiful art surrounds you every step of the way. This is after all a Museum.
The bride and groom can actually wed under the totem poles, as the floor to ceiling windows share a view of the outdoor pond and Haida village, as the sun lingers over the Howe Sound mountains; completing the portrait.
The bride and groom could then move out to the Haida Village for some dinner and dancing. The village overlooks the same beautiful backdrop, with rolling grass hills perfect for photos and fun.
Taylor also told me that MOA at UBC works closely with Apex Tents & Salmons Rentals, a company owning the amazing 8000 square foot seasonal-permanent event tent that is located on the same grounds as the Museum.
With so much magic in store how could one resist spending their special day here at the Museum.
