What is a Rustic-Themed Wedding?

Rustic-themed weddings are becoming more and more popular because they offer all the romance of a traditional fairytale. They typically feature beautiful flowers, lush green grass, twinkling lights, elegant chandeliers, and romantic music.

Their focus is on the natural beauty that is captured by flowers, trees, old farmhouses, barns, huts, bales of hay, or any other rustic area in nature. The bride is typically wearing a white dress and gilded jewelry and the groom wears a suit and ties to match the bridesmaids’ dresses that compliment their theme. The atmosphere is usually lit with candles and the reception may even host a photo booth for guests to take pictures with props like cowboy hats and cowboy boots.

The atmosphere may be quiet and unrushed, allowing guests to fully enjoy their meal and take time for pictures. The reception usually includes only the wedding party, parents of the couple, grandparents and close friends. The reception is often held at a beautiful farm or in an outdoor setting that allows all guests to feel close to nature.

Cool Rustic Wedding Venues across Canada

First on our list is Summer hill Pyramid Winery, our DJs often attend weddings here and have taken some amazing shots to prove it. This location is perfect for your rustic outdoor wedding its large outdoor space includes both a vineyard and heritage lawn as well as a veranda and banquet hall indoors. The oak wine barrels around the property help give it that old feel (the wine that comes from these doesn’t hurt either).

Bottega Farm Inn and Studio in Kelowna comes in second when it comes to a barn wedding venue, it has both indoor and outdoor space, yes you can have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor wedding party, that fits the rustic look perfectly. Large trees surround the property for those who wish to be outdoors, while inside lights are strung along the roof giving it a true fairytale feel.

Last, but definitely not least, for our Kelowna weddings is the Hotel Eldorado. This is another favorite amongst Airwaves customers and has accommodated our DJs many times. The indoor and outdoor space has an amazing view of the lake and can host your ceremony right on the boardwalk. This venue is for those who are leaning more towards a beachy rustic rather than the deep forest vibe.

Now for those of you in the Lower Mainland (don’t worry we haven’t forgotten you!), the Hart House Restaurant definitely needs to be on your list of places to consider. This Tudor-style mansion is located in Burnaby, B.C. The acreage surrounding the Hart House is located next to a lake, invoking a sense of romance similar to the famous Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling kiss scene in The Notebook. Need I say more?

What does a rustic wedding look like?

A rustic wedding is an elegant way to highlight your Swiss heritage. It may include touches of folk art, such as antlers hung on the wall or a Swiss cross to commemorate your family’s heritage. You can also incorporate cheese, wine, and bread baskets to represent your food and beverage preferences for the event. This style of wedding typically has an outdoor ceremony with a reception in a barn or barn-style venue.
