Remember that you’re not planning a birthday party. Its your wedding and you should be able to do what ever you want… and realistically you essentially can. Just remember that it is still a wedding. Keep the love and commitment portions in it and visible at all times. Just don’t go too crazy on the decorations and distract everyone away from the real celebration.

If you’re having trouble coming up with a theme but are set on having one, brainstorm something that you have in common as a couple. You’re together for a lot of reasons, and all though opposites do attract, their must be a topic or two that brought you together in the first place or that you enjoy in general on a daily basis.

Once you have your ideal theme picked out, where do you start with decor? What pieces apply to the theme? An easy way around that is to watch a movie or buy a magazine that pertains to your theme. If you’re throwing a medieval theme, then rent king Arthur or some other medieval themed film. If that yields few results, then the internet is always a safe bet. It may not be original, but it will amplify the feel of your wedding none the less.

Make sure if you’re ordering specific themed decor online or from a foreign platform, that you give yourselves ample time to receive them. Not only that, but allow for extra time should their be an issue with the item(s), that way you can send them back and receive them a second time.
