This past Saturday, Oct 13, I got the chance to attend a wedding with Kelowna Wedding DJ Les Darroux. It’s always great to get a chance to attend a wedding with one of our DJs, but it was a bit extra special to spend the night at Summerhill Pyramid Winery with our local team manager Les. He’s such a great guy and his music selection was awesome. The most popular song of the night was either Jump, Jive and Wail by Brian Setzer or Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. It seems like a strange stand off musically, but honestly, there was a huge crowd for both songs and each one got played in the last hour of the night. I bet Brian Setzer would feel pretty good holding his own with Robin Thicke. Or maybe vice versa?

Les kept the dance floor going until the very end. Going to weddings always reminds me how important it is for the wedding guests to feel completely comfortable with their DJ. We had lots of requests at the DJ booth and Les made sure to play them all!

At Airwaves we always make an effort to get out to our DJs gigs and check out our performers in action. At every single gig I go to, I find some small thing we can change to make the service better for the customer or to make life better for our performers. For example, last night we thought bringing a telescopic dolly for wheeling speakers might be a good call. I also thought it might be fun to hire professional wedding crashers to come to the event… Les shot the second idea down, but hey, it was worth a try!
