15 Step Process

Selecting a DJ for your Wedding

We have created our very own 15 step process to use when we are selecting a dj for your wedding:

  • Clubs-Proven club or restaurant experience with a reference check
  • Weddings-The DJ Must have eddying experience with a reference check
  • Mix-Provide an online mix of at least 15 minutes long to demonstrate their skill
  • Image-Submit 3-4 photos of themselves DJing
  • Gear Knowledge-Must own and know how to operate their own mixer and equipment and pass the Airwaves Music Equipment Test
  • Music Knowledge-Must pass the Airwaves Music Trivia test with at least 90%
  • Music Catalogue-Must have their own music in all of the top styles (Top 40s, Rock, indie rock, Hip Hop, House, Country, Soul, Motown, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, R&B, Pop)
  • Interviewed-The applicant is interviewed by Airwaves Management
  • Trained-The DJ is given Airwaves Music Training in Corporate events, wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions and must pass a test in order to gain training certification
  • Sign off-The DJ Must read and sign off on our dress codes, code of ethics and client contracts
  • Volunteer-The DJ must be willing to volunteer for a charity event before being accepted onto the team
  • Shadow-The DJ must shadow an established Airwaves DJ at least twice before going out on a gig by themselves
  • Proven Reliability-All new team members must pass a random reliability test, where we call them for a random favour, change interview times and test their overall reliability and professionalism
  • Re-Trained-Airwaves management attends the first gig and wedding of any new team members
  • Reviewed-All DJs are given a regular review as well as anonymous feedback from other members of the team, past clients, management and vendors in the industry on a quarterly basis
