DJ 2aT, aka Thomas Maxey, has been captivated by music his entire life. Ever since he played a 7-inch vinyl of “Beat It” by Michael Jackson on a Fisher-Price turntable, he was hooked. He loves weaving any genre together and specializes in Funky House, Nu Disco and Hip Hop. Thomas has played at venues such as Commodore Ballroom, Fortune Sound Club and Biltmore Cabaret. He has filled the air with sound for many different events, from sales promotions at Sephora or Harry Rosen, to Canada Day block parties on Granville Street.
He has provided DJ services for schools, staff parties and weddings, set the vibe for restaurants such as Finch and Barley, Stackhouse Burger Bar, and Cactus Club; and also sustains warm atmospheres by volunteering at functions ranging from fundraisers, to award ceremonies, and retirement parties. Thomas ’ eclectic selections include over 10,000 songs varying from the 1920′ s to present day, and a selection of more than 250 vinyl records featuring jazz, funk, disco, pop and soul. He’s proficient with the vast array of gear that’s available and can DJ on any rig, but always prefers using his turntables. Prior to your event, Thomas will meet with you to create a list of songs he’ll use to build a playlist. This will assist in getting a feel for what the guests enjoy most, the key ingredient to maximizing smiles on the dance floor.Thomas brings a freshly energetic outlook to deejaying, whether it’s playing the right song at the right time, or taking people on a journey though transitions, his great ear always successfully maintains the essence to a tee.
