A Little About DJ Owen
DJ Owen has been DJing since the rave scene in 1999 and became an integral part of the Airwaves Vancouver Team in 2016. Over the years he has DJ’d hundreds of weddings and parties – Owen is a high energy DJ who loves music, and can often be seen moving along to the jams he plays – especially the throwbacks and classics. He loves to DJ weddings as a way to play a wide variety of music for guests of huge age span and is great at keeping everyone engaged and dancing.
He has a deep knowledge and music library covering the golden oldies to classic rock, 90s hip hop to the modern day crowd pleasers, and Owen is an expert when it comes to mixing it all together. His love of music began with teaching himself to play guitar as a teenager, and he listens to everything from Marilyn Manson to The Drifters, so he’s likely to know just about any request that comes his way.
If you need someone to MC, Owen’s relaxed style and sense of humour make him particularly able to put a crowd at ease both on and off the mic. Planners love working with Owen as he stays on schedule, keeps everything organized, and is ultimately a really fun person to have working your event.

I had multiple guests come up to me and say how impressed they were with Owen, not only his song selection, but his dance moves behind the table. He was receptive to the crowd and changed songs based on the mood, and he got everyone onto the dance floor with some great opening songs.
We hired Airwaves as we wanted an easy and stress free music option.
I had worked with the company as a meetings and events manager through my work, so I knew their reputation was great. We also really liked that they have backup emergency DJ’s and backup equipment on standby in case your DJ has an emergency or can’t make it, or a piece of their equipment breaks. We booked them and almost immediately had a call with Danice so she could learn more about us and the type of music we were into.
Then Maddison took over and she was super responsive and always reaching out to check in on everything. Closer to the date we were assigned DJ Owen, who we also had a call with to go over the timeline and styles. The day came and everything was amazing! DJ Owen set up for our ceremony, and then moved his set-up to the reception area, which was about 50 yards away. He even came up with a music game to play to call tables up, which kept guests invested and engaged.
All in all the music was perfect and DJ Owen was awesome to work with!

We hired Airwaves as our DJ and MC for our wedding in August of 2022! We were matched with Owen and he did a fantastic job. We are really picky with our music choices and he was so accommodating to what we wanted. Our guests loved the music and he really made sure everything flowed smoothly. Loved the experience and fantastic communication!
There were a few songs from our “”Must Play”” list that were missed, which was a little sad, but most of them were played. We understood that as a DJ there sometimes isn’t time to throw in every song and also flow it in properly. Our recommendation is to keep your “Must Plays” as a shorter list so there’s more possibility to play them all on the day.

We hired Airwaves Music DJs for our September wedding. Our event manager, Maddison, was wonderful. She kept on top of our planning forms and sent out several reminders leading up to our wedding date. We had requested to hire a DJ that would be able to play music to satisfy various age groups and someone who can read the room well – DJ Owen was assigned to DJ our wedding! We also requested for Owen to provide MC services. Owen did a fantasic job with the ceremony music and keeping all songs going until the right time to change or end. He also did a great job reading the crowd during the reception and many people commented on the great selection of music. Overall, we are very impressed with Airwaves Music, Maddison, and DJ Owen. We would definitely recommend and use this company again in the future!!
Airwaves Music was reliable and professional from start to finish! DJ Owen met with us ahead of time and was keen to learn multiple family and cultural traditions and made our dance floor a huge hit at our wedding.
